Copper is a Godsend. She is a littermate of L.J.'s and shares his leg set, sharpness and dairy character. She also has the blue eyes of her father, Thor, but with an improved udder over her dam, Scotch. She has remained small with a comparatively short back, but compared to some of the "dachshund" goats we have here, she's got some tough competitoin.
Copper is really showing us her production. Producing twins, and high numbers of kids, her milk is very high in butterfat and protein, and she gives plenty of it. I would like to see her teats larger, but her daughter, Jewelyet, has shown that choosing the right buck makes a big difference there.
Thanks to participation in a Production Doe Class, Copper qualified, along with her sister, Freja, for Top Ten Doe on Protein for One Day Tests. Freja placed a little higher - Congratulations Pauline! Copper also placed in the Top Ten for Butterfat as well. Way to go girl!
We lost Copper in 2007, following a difficult birthing. We are blessed to have two of her daughters, but will always his miss her sweet personality. Rest peacefully Copper Kiss.
