Exciting News! Read All About It

I’ve been sitting onthis for a long time, but now it’s time to announce it. We now own Ruminations, the Nigerian and Mini-Dairy Goat Magazine. I was contacted several months ago about purchasing it, and through some wonderfully generous support, we were able to make it happen. Starting in 2008, Ruminations will be published from Ashburnham, MA.
The magazine started back in 1993, I think, published by Goodwood Farm’s Kathleen Claps. She had been a part of the publishing team that put out “FootNotes**” a Nigerian dwarf publication that preceded Ruminations. Ruminations was purchased by Cheryl Smith of Mystic Acres Farm, several years later, and she’s been publishing it ever since. We plan on continuing the work done by Kathleen and Cheryl, but broadening the scope beyond goats alone. Ruminations will address the needs of Nigerian and mini-dairy goat owners as our numbers grow through the sustainable agriculture community. As more people look for local food supplies, and farmers face issues of keeping their farm affordable, Ruminations will feature approaches that have worked, are in development, or just plain sharing ideas and questions.
This is an exciting new endeavor for us, and we strive to do our predecessors proud, and to expand the reach of the magazine as we strengthen the “Goat community,” as it exists today.
I hope you’ll join us by subscribing to Ruminations, as we “celebrate the small farm goat.” You can see more about our new efforts at www.smallfarmgoat.com.
