Merry Christmas!

Posted by Farm at December 26th, 2009

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas if they celebrate it, or just a wonderful Friday, if they don’t. As we wind up this year, I realized that this blog has been a place for reports of sad things, not as much joyous ones. I promise, I’ll try to do better in 2010.

We’re looking forward to our first kids in early February (looking forward may be a little harsh. It’s plenty cold ’round here that time of year. But the kids will be wonderful!) We have a few surprises ahead of us, as Lane and some of the other “little boys,” found their way into the doe herd several times. We think we’ve got everyone accounted for, but realized that Bourbon is probably bred, though we had intended to retire her.  We’ll see how she does. She’s a beautiful doe, though too tall, and could use much better udder attachments, but all of our boys can improve on that. We don’t keep any “B-Boys” intact anyway. I thought things were a little quiet around here. Bourbon lets us know when she’s in heat :)

Other than that, and getting the bucks settled into their new hoop barn, things are pretty quiet here. We’re blessed to be living here and meeting such wonderful people. Our soap sales are up a great deal (thank you everyone who remembered us!) and we’re looking forward to expanding our farm offerings in the new year.

Enjoy this quiet. We are. Happy Holidays and have a wonderful 2010!
