Breathing Room

Well, we have a short space between kiddings, and wonderful weather to enjoy the kids in.
Chamisoul blessed us with four beautiful kids on Tuesday, conveniently all within the 15 minutes I had free that morning. Two boys and two girls, sired by Cornerstone Farm Jeriah.
These boys will be for sale, as will one of the girls, though the exact decision won’t be made for a while yet.

Fern’s three girls are doing beautifully, as are the rest of the kids. Though this year has had it’s losses and sadnesses, the kids who have made it are beautiful and friendly. I hope they don’t inherit some of their mother’s voices however. Saxony and Roulette, my two quietest first fresheners before kidding are now referred to as “bellows falls” and “sax” because of their blaring calls at milking time. BF/Roulette is learning that she’ll get the kids back, but Saxony is sure that she’s going to explode and that she’ll never see her kids again. Oh well, hopefully she’ll catch on soon.

Just a quick note here to catch you all up. The first kids of the year went to the new homes last weekend, and more are scheduled to leave within two weeks, so the changing of the goat guard has begun for 2010.

Happy Spring!
