After a beautiful day yesterday and a whole string of spring last week, the goats and I are having a hard time with the frigid rain we have this morning. Truffle’s kids are screaming for momma in the front yard, but they’re being weaned and can’t have her back. She answers their cries but that’s the best she can do.

Her daughter from last year, Saxony, gave us beautiful twins on Wednesday. Breton, a little buckling, and Essex, a buckskin doeling colored like her mother. With this weather they’re under heat lamps, but I know that spring will come again and we’ll all be fine.
It’s just hard on everyone when the weather is so unpredictable.

So now we wait for Ballad to kid, and Chamisoul will kid soon too. First kids of the season go home next week, and the cycle of the farm continues to roll.
